We were approached by Prohibition in February 2008 having already completed the website for their parent company Premium Bars and Restaurants.
Prohibition felt that their existing website no longer adequately reflected their brand or their venues and was too complicated to update.
Initially menus had to be uploaded for each individual venue. We discussed this with our client and decided that was too time consuming. We therefore altered the content management system to allow each menu to be uploaded for multiple venues at the same time.
Fat Frog worked closely with the Marketing team for Prohibition to ensure the site met their exact needs. The website was designed by Fat Frog's Laura Swaddle and developed by Fat Frog's Adam Maxwell, Nadhim Orfali and Gareth Foster.
Fat Frog are a multi-disciplined agency and thus far have not had a need to outsource any aspect of a websites development.
The most complicated aspect of this project was the fact that the designs included a great deal of illustration. The website was designed to look like a newspaper from the 1920's, the era of the prohibition of the production, sale and transportation of alcohol in the USA.
On reflection, we feel we allowed the client too much control over the way in which systems were designed. This led to system changes being made late on in the project which had knock on effects in other areas of the site and delayed the completion of the build.
The new Prohibition website has played a major part in positioning the venues as "cocktail bars" rather than "pubs" which is how they were previously commonly perceived.
The new website features an application form which allows those interested in a career with Prohibition to apply for a job online, thus streamlining the recruitment process for our client.
Fat Frog are currently working on a website for another two of Premium Bar and Restaurants brands, The Living Room and Mosquito, and look forward to building their relationship with the company in the future.
